I Miss and Love My Temple: An Email of Thanks to Rabbi Kedar from BJBE College Student Hannah Moser

Shana tova!

Today I found myself at my university's student-led Reform Rosh Hashnah service. Unfortunately, was not satisfied with the service in many ways, and I recognize that High Holiday services must be very difficult to lead, especially for students, but I think I took the quality of BJBE's service for granted for all my years growing up.

Later, I came back to my dorm room, and opened up the live stream, immediately feeling like I was back at temple. Switching between the traditional service and the l'dor vador service I got to experience beautiful and fun music, insightful readings, familiar prayers and melodies, and two thought-provoking sermons, most of which I was unable to get from school. What I found most wonderful was that I could feel the spirit of the sanctuary and sacred hall enter my dorm room in such a special and unique way.

I just want to say a huge yasher koach to you and everyone who participated in both services; it was truly great. I love that our tradition and values allow us to take advantage of the technology that can include anyone and everyone who wants to witness and participate in services. I am so lucky and thankful to be a part of this wonderful temple, and I am happy to say that the community extends far beyond the bounds of the sanctuary. So thanks for all you do to make that happen!

L'shana tova u'metuka!
