Rabbi Canali comes to us from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and was ordained at Hebrew Union College in New York in May 2026.
A note from Rabbi Wright: Rabbi Canali is a remarkable young rabbi: passionate, empathetic, genuine, a seeker of sacred ritual, and a doer of mitzvot. He is the kind of rabbi who will celebrate our simchas with us in moments of joy and sit beside us with strength and compassion in moments of difficulty. Rabbi Canali carries himself with the presence and judgment of a seasoned rabbi, along with a maturity that was evident throughout the interview process. He spoke thoughtfully about BJBE’s history, from Rabbi Shapiro to Rabbi Kedar, and was genuinely moved by the depth of our congregational life, including our weekly minyan and Talmud study. He understands that BJBE is not only a synagogue with a proud past, but also a community with a sacred and ambitious future. Rabbi Canali will strengthen and complement this synagogue in so many areas of contemporary Jewish life. I am deeply grateful to the search committee, and especially to Stephanie Rodgers and Lara Kunz, for the extraordinary care, diligence, and wisdom they brought to adding Rabbi Canali to BJBE's clergy team. |
