ADULT EDUCATION
Adult learning at BJBE offers diverse programs for all levels of background and interest designed to deepen Jewish literacy, strengthen community, and make learning a meaningful part of your life. Our classes range from exploring classical texts and Jewish history to Israel, culture, contemporary issues, and Reform Jewish practice.
Weekly LearningThese courses take place during our academic year (roughly August through May) and are on hiatus each summer.
Symposium Tuesdays | 10-11 AM A weekly gathering to explore, question, and deepen our understanding of tradition, Jewish life, and Torah. Talmud Study Wednesdays | 9-10 AM Dive into the heart of Jewish wisdom through the time-honored tradition of questioning, debating, and discovering meaning in every line of Torah. During the summer, Talmud Study is led by lay leaders. Shabbat Torah Study Saturdays | 11:15 AM - 12 PM Following Kol Shabbat services, a member of our clergy leads a study of the weekly torah portion, parashat ha-shavua. Beginning Conversational Hebrew Sundays | 11 AM Taught by Ezra Kedar (husband of Rabbi Emerita Karyn D. Meet our clergy in BJBE's Village Center or at a local bar for an adults-only social evening with friends, building community with l'chayim and a little bit of learning. Through the generosity of our community, the Rabbi Mark S. Shapiro Scholar-in-Residence Fund gives us the opportunity to invite Jewish scholars and educators to teach at BJBE.
