This Week at BJBE - October 15

Dear Friends,

We are pleased to be partnering with 23 other Jewish organizations to host the North Shore Jewish Community Candidate Forum this evening at BJBE starting at 7:30 PM. This event is described by Lynn Sweet in the SunTimes as, "the major Jewish community event of the general election cycle and includes contenders for Congress and Illinois state House and Senate." Shabbat services the next three Friday nights offer something for everyone! This Friday, Matzah Ball Shabbat Family Service returns, starting at 5:15 PM for delicious matzah ball soup and a family service featuring our Kol Simchah Junior Choir at 6:00 PM. On Friday, October 26 at 7:30 PM, we are honored to have guest speaker Shahar Shilo of the City of David-Ancient Jerusalem with an introduction by Omer Eschel of the Israel Government Tourist Office. Our Artist-in-Residence weekend kicks off with singer/songwriter Josh Nelson joining our clergy on the bimah on Friday, November 2 at 7:30 PM.

Congregation BJBE looks forward to celebrating the B'nai Mitzvah of Jamie Kahn and Ryan Blum at the morning service and Drew Rosenbloom and Rachel McCoy at the Havdalah service Saturday, October 20. Mazel tov to Jamie, Ryan, Drew, Rachel and their families.

A Special day at the Western Wall

Please sign Petition

Anat Hoffman writes...

For almost two months we have been collecting signatures for our petition to make the Western Wall inclusive for all Jews. There have been just 10,000 signatures to date, but we need this number to grow, and we know it can. This will happen is if dedicated supporters like you help us collect signatures.

We congratulate the group and wish them a safe and meaningful experience.
